2nd Annual Multicultural Women BLOOM Conference

On Saturday, April 20, 2013, 4Ever BLOOM and the TheresaHarrisonGroup co-hosted their latest event, the 2nd Annual Multicultural Women BLOOM Conference. The Bloom conference brought together women from Maryland. Once again, women under one roof, gathered to network, to learn from one another, to exchange ideas, and breakdown cultural barriers.

When interviewed Viv Wayne said, “The conference goal is to empower women by increasing the awareness of and appreciation for the richness of diversity and strength among women and to provide a venue where women can be elevated, encouraged, educated and empowered. Our 2013 theme, “We Are Stronger Together,” says that we learn from each other, support each other, and together, we work to resolve the issues that impact our families, communities and country. The conference audience consisted of women from all walks of life and all ethnic groups.  Each year we see new faces, and they bring fresh ideas, new perspectives and opportunities to form new partnerships.”

Perhaps the most valuable take-away for conference attendees were the new personal connections forged during the event. Held at the Hampton Inn, Ft. Detrick Conference Center 1565 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland, participants took full advantage of the speeches, workshops and panels-as well as the social and networking aspects of the conference.

Elizabeth Chung was formally recognized for her hard work and commitment to the multicultural community. She received the “2nd Annual BLOOM Award.”

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

On October 6, 2012, I had the honor of working with a dynamic team of women from FCAC Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. on an advocacy event called Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to end violence against women.  I want to thank everyone for his or her support, contributions, and “walk power” which made this event a success! The DST Team is a courageous group of men who showed their desire to be part of the solution to end domestic violence. It was a fun day to see these brave men so willing to put on high heels for a short time to make everyone aware of domestic violence and to encourage others to stand up for women and stop the violence. With daughters, wives, mothers, sisters, and friends walking with them, a loud statement was portrayed…that they will not tolerate violence against women.
